Training programme cyber crisis exercises (for research organisations)

Belnet and the Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB) are organising a training programme for research organisations on how to design and run a cyber crisis exercise within their organisation.

Who is this training programme for?

• Anyone involved in managing cyber-related risks at a research organisation connected to Belnet and interested in setting up a cyber crisis exercise.
• Participants should have a solid understanding of the tactical and strategic challenges relevant to their organisation.

Practical information

• The training programme consists of three workshops, a follow-up session, an individual cyber crisis exercise and a debriefing.
• Participation is free of charge, but we expect participants to attend all sessions and to commit to conducting a tabletop exercise within their own organisation between March and May 2027.
• Before registering, make sure to appoint both an exercise leader and an observer. Please read the document with additional information (French version / Dutch version) carefully before submitting your registration.

Programme

• 19/11/2026 – Workshop 1: Basics of crisis management and crisis communication, including a tabletop exercise (full day)

• 03/12/2026 – Workshop 2: Designing and facilitating a tabletop exercise (full day)

• 28/01/2027 – Workshop 3: Observing and evaluating a tabletop exercise (half day)

• March to mid-May 2027 – Exercise weeks (participants conduct their own cyber crisis exercise)

• End of May 2027 – Debriefing (half day), date to be confirmed
